Remaking Unsightly Nails

During the summer when sandals and open-toed shoes are the order of the day, we at Central Jersey Ankle & Foot Care get many more patients asking for ways to improve the look of disfigured toenails. Toenails may become discolored, brittle, thick or crumbly for a number of reasons including:

Nails that are deformed or discolored may also be a sign of a disease such as liver disease, anemia or cardiovascular disease. For this reason, if you notice changes in your nails, you should make an appointment at our Aberdeen office to consult with one of our podiatrists, Dr. Christopher J. Mullin, Dr. Jessica A. Addeo or Dr. Rajan Patel. In most cases, the treatment for disfigured nails will require a long time for the nail to heal or grow out. However, we offer the Keryflex Nail System which can help during that time.

How Does Keryflex Work?

Using polymer resins and UV light, your foot doctor can create a new artificial nail to take the place of your disfigured one in as little as 15 minutes. First, the podiatrist removes part or all of the damaged nail. Then the foot doctor can shape a new nail using the resins and special gel hardener. The new nail is buffed and filed until it resembles a natural nail. Advantages of the Keryflex system include:

  • Nail polish and nail polish remover can be used on the artificial nail without damaging it
  • Treatments for fungal nail or other nails disorders can continue while using the Keryflex system without interruption
  • Regular activities can be resumed as soon as you leave the office

So stop being embarrassed about your discolored or disfigured toenail and do something about it. Let our podiatrists erase this unsightly problem using the Keryflex Nail System. For more information, contact our office by calling: 732-566-2841.
